Etiwan Pointe : Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

THROUGH THE MID-18TH century, the lush confluence of the Wando and Cooper rivers was the ancestral home of the Etiwan Indians, a small tribe of the Iroquois nation that had made peace with the South Carolina government.

The Etiwan are long gone, but their name lives on in Etiwan Pointe, a 46-residence community of Charlestonian-style town homes located by those same waters of the Wando, its adjacent marshes and meandering Rathall Creek in the vibrant town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

Secluded from the surrounding area, with no through traffic or intrusion from other developments, Etiwan Pointe retains the natural ambience of its location, with lagoon and marsh views and walking trails through habitat teeming with wildlife. It also offers modern conveniences such as a boardwalk and community dock with drinking water and electricity and an aluminum gangway for easy boat access to the floating dock.

The town homes at Etiwan Pointe include five separate configurations, each with its own character and charm, to meet individual tastes and needs. They include: a two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath floor plan with separate den, master suite and separate breakfast room off the kitchen; a double master suite layout with separate living and dining areas and an oversized second porch; and an expansive three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath with separate living and dining areas and a large eat-in kitchen. Some floor plans feature walk-in closets, four-fixture baths, soaking tubs and an oversized two-car garage.

All the Etiwan Pointe town homes offer 10-foot ceilings, a tiled entry with a coat closet, an automatic garage door, hardwood floors throughout and tile in the kitchen, bathroom and powder room. They also provide a laundry room large enough for a full-sized washer and dryer and an oversized kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops and large pantries. Additional features include rear screened porches, double-hung windows, pre-wiring for television, telephone and Internet and all-electric appliances. Fireplaces are optional and other upgrades are available.

Ideal for families, Etiwan Pointe offers all its residents a host of lifestyle amenities. There is a main clubhouse with banquet room and wraparound porch; a swimming pool with a lap lane and a pool house with full baths and a changing room; a fitness center; and a large lawn area for picnics, parties and special events.

And, although Etiwan Pointe-s secluded, waterside location guarantees serenity and separation from urban concerns, Mount Pleasant-s excellent schools, fine dining and diverse, upscale retail shopping are only minutes away.

In addition, Charleston and the pristine beaches of the Isle of Palms are easily accessible by boat or by Interstate 526 and the IOP Connector.

Whether for a first home, second home or retirement destination, Etiwan Pointe has it all.
